As the person experiencing hearing loss first hand I thought I had a fairly good idea of what I was missing out on. As it turns out, I was missing out on a lot more than I thought.
Not only was I astounded by all the things I could hear when I got my hearing aids, I am now also discovering that it went a lot deeper than just not hearing the gurgling fish tank. By not hearing as well as I used to, I also wasn’t participating in everyday communication like I used to. I was missing out on opportunities to participate in relationships and just interact with people. Because of that I wasn’t the only one missing out, my family was missing out too.
My son Marshall said when I started wearing hearing aids he felt like he got his dad back. That right there is all the reason I ever should have needed to get help with my hearing.
