How To Choose The Right Hearing Aid

Posted by Living Sounds

There are many things to think about when beginning on the journey to choosing a hearing aid, and it can be hard to know where to start and what to look for when choosing what’s right for you.

I always sit with clients to discuss their hearing loss and their choice of a hearing aid, and I make sure to go over styles, noise control, features, and connectivity.

Styles: Here we discuss the appearance of the hearing aid and how it fits in or on the ear. The hearing loss and the physical size of the ear are important factors in considering a style.

Noise Control: Hearing aids have the ability to differentiate between sounds around you and apply subtle manipulations to help you focus on speech and keep you comfortable. There are different levels of noise controls between models.

Features: A couple of the features that your practitioners are regularly using are feedback control for more comfort and directionality to help enhance speech in noise.

Connectivity: Most technologies now are wireless and Bluetooth enabled.
