The Starkey Hearing Innovations Expo

Posted by Living Sounds

The Hearing Innovations Expo is an international event hosted by Starkey Hearing Technologies, and it is put on every two years. It is the coming together of Fortune 500 executives, industry thought leaders, philanthropists, world-class scientists, and hearing’s top independent providers converging to discuss and share ideas that can be put into action today to help shape a better tomorrow.

Wow – this it the third time that I have had the privilege of being one of 3200 to attending this wonderful conference. In previous years there have been speakers like George Bush, Bill Clinton, Kevin O’Leary and the Shark Tank group, Ben Affleck, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Randi Zuckerberg, Daniel Pink, Andy Andrews, Peter Diamandis, Satjiv Chahil, and the many hearing industry specialists that work at Starkey and their affiliates. These wonderful speakers covered topics including thinking differently, defining tomorrow, how to turn ideas into action, social media, philanthropy, cognitive processing, tinnitus management, brain reorganization in hearing loss, spatial hearing, and more. Last year, we got a look the “Bragi” wireless earphones, and there was the innovation center and the Gene Bar with the latest hearing technology. What more could be packed into a three-day conference? I came home so pumped up and full of new ideas that it took a couple of days for my brain to process all the information.

In the book The Butterfly Effect, Andy Andrew uses the statement that “a butterfly could flap its wings and set molecules of air in motion, which would move other molecules of air- eventually capable of starting a hurricane on the other side of the planet”.

When I move, when I act, and when I do something does it have an effect on the universe? The answer is yes! Every single thing I do matters! So how do I take all the information that was presented to me and use that to assist my clients to move forward and hear the world?

The answer is one step at a time and by appreciating each unique client that comes through my door. I have something to teach them about my industry. They a have something unique to offer me in moving forward. Together we can change the world.

So the world may hear.
